looking to get a GTI

well the title says it all. but i no nothing about VW and euro tuners in general, i was wondering what are some stuff to look for when getting one or if anyone could help me find one.
my price range is from 4-6k thanks for the help

Sorry Mikey, sites been down for a while. Anyways, here is a run down. In that price range you should be looking at an MK4 GTi like iScrapes. Here is what to look for in those cars, and what to expect.

What To Look For:
-Working Cluster
-Nothing Over 100k
-No CEL
-No Airbag Light
-No Hand-Cut Springs
-Never Filled w/ Less THen 91 Octange (if Turbo)
-Turbo Mileage (I'd say nothing over 60k)
-Check The Block For Gasoline Smell (This is a no-go)
-Test Drive For Tranny/RPM Lag

I actually have a checklist you should go through whenever buying a new or used car. It's pretty thorough, if you want I can type it all out.
